  • I was referred to Dr. Guelich and am thankful I ended up in his hands. His expertise, professionalism, confidence and kindness put me at ease. My post op appointment was very instrumental in my recovery due to his words of encouragement. Ally, Assistant to Dr. Guelich, is an incredible asset to his team. Her sticktoitiveness with my insurance company was absolutely incredible to witness. I will confidently refer Dr. Guelich to any and all that need a sports medicine physician.

  • Was suprised by these reviews, Dr. Guelich and his staff are terrific. Had shoulder surgery for labral tear and it went perfectly. Everything about the experience was great; he's extremely helpful, patient, and clearly smart. I would send anyone to him for a 2nd opinion.

  • My daughter needed ACL reconstruction after a sports related ACL tear. Not only her physical and emotional well-being were a concern but also her career in collegiate and professional sports, present and future. After pondering over several good surgeons that had already evaluated her, we decided for Dr. Guelich. Enthusiastic, energetic, assertive, direct, knowledgeable and with good humor he also was quite personable and caring, answering our many questions with comprehensive explanations about all the alternatives for her surgery, and the pros and cons of each one. However, he also told us emphatically what methods and techniques he would NOT perform in our daughter's case, and which one he recommnended strongly even if we went somewhere else for her surgery. Dr. Guelich tailored his recommendations according to our daughters' sport, age, body strength, present and future career, gender and current available clinical and research data. He emphasized the psychological aspect and mental strength relevant to the entire process, and the pre-op rehabilitation of her thigh for strengthening her leg. He gave us detailed information, step by step, of what to expect before, during and after surgery and throughout the rehabilitation process. Although, there is a strong possibility that she will be ready to compete within four months after her surgery, he did let us know that he would not discharge her before the full six months post-op rehab period. By saying this, he was thinking not about one more collegiate season for her, but about her future and her career, and about ensuring her well-being by avoiding the possibility of a re-rupture. Answering to our many questions, for we had researched the subject and the specialists in the area A LOT, he focused us on one key factor beyond sources and quality of the grafts: the ability of the surgeon to give the new ACL the right angle, positioning and attachment, plus the effectiveness of the harvesting. The decission that Dr. Guelich should be our daughters' surgeon unfolded on its own by the time the first meeting was over. The second meeting was an even better conffirmation that this was a done deal. We are awaiting for her surgery with hope and confident that our daughter is in good hands.

  • I was able to go through three knee surgeries successfully thanks to Dr. Guelich. He is the most caring, honest, personable, supportive, and compassionate doctor I have ever met. As an athlete, going through two acl reconstructive surgeries and a meniscous repair in less than two years, has probably been the most challenging thing that I had to face as a soccer player so far. Dr. Guelich's professional expertise, knowledge, and caring support has made the whole difference in my quick recovery, physically and psychologically.

  • Dr. Guelich and his staff are wonderful. Fixed a problem in my shoulder another surgeon screwed up. Spends time and honestly cares, not sure what we would have done w/out him!

  • Referred on by a friend. Terrific experience, and very well respected. Went for 2nd opinion and they spoke very highly. Fixed a cartilage problem in my knee. I'm running again and soo happy!!

  • Very conservative approach for the first visits. Dr. G considered my job and my ability to tolerate the pain. He fixed my shoulder and all his recommendations were spot on! Can't even see the incisions now, my wife thinks he's great too and we've referred all of our friends. Very nice practice!

  • Dr. Guelich was great from the beginning of my knee replacement consultation all the way through to one year later final follow-up. His demeanor was kind and professional (and that is hard for some to do). He has a good sense of humor, cares about his patients and their comfort. I am actually looking forward to having him do the total knee replacement for my left knee.

  • I have been seeing Dr. Guelich for the past 2 months for an Achilles Tendon rupture and have had a great experience. He was able to get me in to his office the morning after my injury and took the time during my initial visit to answer any and all of my questions. Surgery was scheduled quickly and my recovery has been tremendous as he allowed me to go for an aggressive Physical Therapy course. Not to mention, my scar is impeccable for an Achilles scar. I hear horror stories of people having anywhere from 3" - 12" jagged scars from this injury and mine is 1" and straight. During follow up visits he did spend little time with me, but my leg was fine and healing well. He's kind and great orthopedic surgeon; if you want someone to hold your hand, bring a friend.

  • I completely disagree with these reviews. I find Dr. Guelich to be the best sports medicine doctor I have been too. I have had quite extensive knee injuries. He is not the type to immediately recommend surgery like many other surgeons do. He has spent so much time with me discussing options, the pros and cons of each, and answering my million questions. He really listened to my actual symptoms and not just the clinical exam, x-rays, and MRI. Great doctor!

  • I have had a great experience with Dr. Guelich. His office was able to get me in within days of my MRI. He confirmed the torn ACL that the ski resort Dr. had diagnosed and could have gotten me in for surgery in only a couple of weeks. I decided to wait as I was told by multiple folks that the stronger your quadriceps, the easier the recover is. I was not in much pain, just unstable, so I continued by spin class (albeit with no jumps) prior to the surgery. In fact 3 people in my spin class have had favorable experiences with Dr. Guelich, not just on knees, but also shoulders.
The team he worked with at Presence/ St. Joes were awesome, especially the PT's at 1525 W. Belmont. The communication between the PT's and Dr. Guelich seemed to be seamless and they had me back to normal and no more PT within 3 months. As long as I'm careful, I expect to be skiing again next year.
Sure, his office is very busy and he always seemed to have an entourage of PT's and Dr's in training. I appreciated the efficiency, although some of the newbies could learn to listen better when they take notes for the Dr. (If they ask how are you and you say, "great, no pain whatsoever." The next question in front of the computer should not be, "so are you in any pain?") Also, in terms of constructive criticism: the reception team could be a little more sensitive: people on crutches could use some help with their backpacks...
    Overall, no complaints.

  • Dr. Guelich and his staff have been fantastic since I started with them 2 years ago. I'm a 34 year old athlete that's had knee trouble all my life. I've had corrective surgeries in the past, but my knees still never felt right even for just regular activity. With Dr. Guelich I now most recently had a major operation done on my knee that has been a complete success. My knee for the first time ever feels sturdy like it should (and I didn't need a replacement or anything like that). I will be getting my other knee done the same way next chance I get. Dr. Guelich's a personable, caring person, and he is the most up to date surgeon I've ever come across, which is why he's been able to treat a condition I have that I never thought could be fixed. The office staff is organized as well. I've had about 20 visits with them and they are usually right on time. Their follow up is excellent as well. You'll be in good hands with Dr. Guelich...I can't say enough good things...good luck!

  • I am so lucky to have found Dr Guelich! After years of ignoring my shoulder instability and seeing no results after multiple rounds of physical therapy, Dr Guelich counseling me, gave me options, and was able to perform the surgery I needed. He gave me my life back, and I am thankful every day! Over the many years I've had this issue I've seen different orthopedics and Dr Guelich is the best!!

  • Dr Guelich has been treating my shoulder injury. He and his team were efficient and knowledgeable. Stacy, his PA, was very helpful in coordinating my care and physical therapy.
I had to bring my 3.5 year old son with to my original appointment. Dr Guelich was so kind to him and took the time to explain what he was doing during the exam because my son was afraid Dr Guelich was going to "break mommy's arm." The patience and gentleness he showed my son were remarkable.
I would highly recommend Dr Guelich.

  • Dr Guelich and his staff are amazing. I had a knee surgery to remove a loose body. He was very knowledgeable, took time to talk to me about his professional opinion, and is a very down to earth guy. His physician's assistant, Stacy, is also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. His assistant Aly is also on top of everything from scheduling to insurance stuff. HIGHLY recommend this man and his staff! :)

  • Have had 2 knee surgeries w/ Dr. Guelich. First and foremost the results of the surgeries were amazing. I've had an ACL revision and an mACI surgery. Both got me back to where I wanted to be physically. Secondly -
Dr. Guelich is the most professional surgeon I've met - willing to answer all questions from the patient. He is a great communicator (very underrated skill for a surgeon) - and his staff surrounding him is also very easy to work with. I trust Dr. Guelich's opinion (after seeking multiple from renowned surgeons in the area) and actually bounced my other opinions off him to see what he thought. 100% would recommend to anyone.

  • Dr. Guelich preformed a surgery on both of me knees (rare genetic issue). He was absolutely amazing in office and in completing the procedures. I have followed up with him on an another ortho issue and found him to be extremely competent, compassionate, and very good at making my surgical/PT options and care plans extremely clear, for all my ortho issues.
Just overall, an outstanding Ortho Doc to be sure!

  • I have had and continue to have amazing care. He's very clear and open takes time to answer question and from what I've noticed has a good bed side manner. I was concerned after reading the reviews here but I personally found them not what I experienced. Wait time and ease of a scheduling appoints us always hard do to speciality.

  • I am 64 years old. For almost a year I had a bad left shoulder. The MRI indicated a completely torn rotater cuff and a torn Labrum . After meeting with DR. Guelich, he went over my options. I decided after checking his patient satisfaction ratings, to let him do the surgery. It is almost two months now, but I have no regrets. The rehab is very hard, but I have already passed the pain point of before the surgery. Doctor Guelich has been great, very happy with him and the results

  • Dr Guelich repaired my torn rotator cuff. He did a great job and the shoulder has healed marvelously. Glad I did it. I'm planning on having him fix my other shoulder as well. He's professional and thorough and explains exactly what to expect. He's not easy to get an appointment which demonstrates the faith patients have in him.

  • Dr. Guelich repaired my son's broken collar bone. My son was injured in a hockey game and was taken to a suburban ER with an immobilizer. We got in that next morning with Dr. Guelich and he repaired it later that week. Dr. Guelich and his team had great follow up and kept a good eye on my son and his needs. I would recommend him to all of my family and friends (especially for his detail to sports medicine).

  • Even though I'm a 71 year old woman and no athlete at all dr. Gulick took great care of me. He always had an upbeat and positive attitude. And now, after replacement of both knees, I am getting around just great. Wish I had had these knees years ago.
